We are seeking an experienced Party Chief to lead construction staking for a large-scale data center project. This is a travel-heavy field position working long days, 6 days per week during peak construction.
You will be responsible for all aspects of layout and verification on a fast-paced, high-precision site, coordinating closely with general contractors, concrete crews, and other trades to keep construction moving accurately and safely.
Key Responsibilities

Lead a survey crew performing construction staking for:

Data center building corners, columns, and gridlines
-
Foundations, anchor bolts, and slabs
-
Underground utilities, duct banks, and trenching
-
Site grading, paving, and access roads
-
As-built surveys and verification checks
-

Set up and operate Trimble robotic total stations and GNSS equipment
-
Interpret construction plans, structural drawings, and digital models to produce accurate layout.

Perform daily QA/QC on layout and field notes, and communicate issues promptly to the PM/engineers.

Maintain clear communication with superintendent, foremen, and other contractors on-site.

Complete daily documentation (cut sheets, field reports, as-built records) in an organized and timely manner.

Train and direct crew members in safe, efficient field practices.
Minimum Qualifications

3+ years experience as a Party Chief or Lead Survey Technician, with a strong focus on construction staking/layout.

Solid understanding of construction plans, structural detail sheets, and site grading plans.

Proficiency with robotic total stations and GNSS; ability to perform basic field troubleshooting.

Strong math skills and attention to detail; able to hold tight tolerances typical of data center work.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Ability and willingness to:

Travel for extended periods

Work long days (10–12+ hours)

Work 6 days per week during active phases of construction

Prior experience on data center, industrial, or large commercial projects.

Experience with common survey software/data collectors (e.g., Trimble Access, Magnet, Leica Captivate, etc.).

OSHA 10 or other construction safety training.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Work outdoors in all weather conditions on an active construction site.

Regularly walk, stand, bend, and carry survey equipment (up to ~50 lbs).

Work around heavy equipment and active construction operations while following all safety protocols.
Schedule & Travel

Typical schedule: 6 days per week, 10–12 hour days (or more during critical phases).

This is a travel position; you will be working out of town for much of the project.
