Role Overview: Photonic Test Engineer

As a Photonics Test Engineer you will build and automate test capabilities that validate cutting-edge PICs and high-speed optoelectronic components and assemblies from transmitter to receiver. In this role you will define standardized test plans, execute rigorous characterization, and drive reliability and failure analysis to ensure performance meets real-world demands. Working closely with senior optical system test engineers and the photonic integrated circuit (PIC) development team you will help keep validation on track and deliver clear, high-impact data that accelerates photonic technology into product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement standardized test plans for photonic components and PICs.
  • Build test setups, including automating testing capabilities
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of high-speed PICs and optoelectronic assemblies, including transmitters and receivers.
  • Ensure completion of on-on time execution of timing according to plans
  • Define and execute reliability studies and failure analysis for photonic components, PICs and optoelectronic assemblies.

Required Qualifications and Skills: M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.

  • Experience with test of photonic components including lasers, MZMs, photodiodes, and passive components.
  • Hands-on experience developing and executing test plans for PICs.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High-speed modulator and detector test experience.
  • Experience with PIC product packaging, testing, and qualification.
  • Yield, reliability and failure analysis experience.
