Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPlatform BOM Operations Lead
About Etched
Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) only supports transformers, but has an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video models and extremely deep & parallel chain-of-thought reasoning agents.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Platform Engineering BOM Lead to own and drive the Bill of Materials (BOM) process across the full product lifecycle — from sub-assemblies to full rack-level systems (L11). This role will serve as the primary interface between Operations, ODM partners, Engineering, and Finance, ensuring BOM accuracy, structure, and scalability as we grow into high-volume production. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and thrives in cross-functional environments where alignment between design, operations, and financial systems is critical.Key Responsibilities
-
BOM Ownership: Create, manage, and maintain the complete product BOM structure from sub-assemblies through full L11 rack-level assemblies.
-
Cross-Functional Interface: Act as the primary liaison between ODMs, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to ensure BOM accuracy, alignment, and completeness.
-
System Integration: Work closely with the PLM system (Teamcenter) and ERP system (NetSuite) to ensure synchronization of BOM data across platforms.
-
Engineering Collaboration: Partner with engineering stakeholders to translate design intent into accurate, scalable BOMs.
-
BOM Tree Strategy: Define and implement a company-wide BOM tree structure designed to support at-scale, high-volume manufacturing and operations.
-
Change Control: Establish and manage change control processes within Teamcenter for BOM updates, revisions, and lifecycle transitions.
-
Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps and drive process improvements in BOM management, data integrity, and system integrations.
Qualifications

Deep knowledge of BOM structures (sub-assembly through rack-level systems).
-
Hands-on experience with Teamcenter (PLM) and NetSuite (ERP) or similar enterprise systems.
-
Strong understanding of engineering change control processes and configuration management principles.
-
Proven track record of working cross-functionally with engineering, finance, operations, and manufacturing/ODM partners.

How we’re different
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.
We are a fully in-person team in San Jose (Santana Row), and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
