Our client is a full-service Architecture and Engineering firm rooted in Reno, NV—where blue skies, mountain air, and access to endless outdoor recreation are part of everyday life. Their team delivers commercial and industrial projects across the Western U.S., blending thoughtful design with technical precision to create built environments that serve communities, industries, and growing markets.

They are seeking a Principal Architect to join their high-performing team and play a key leadership role in the design, production, and management of diverse commercial projects. This position offers the opportunity to contribute immediately while growing into a department leader within a collaborative, supportive, and fast-paced environment.

Qualifications Required

Work Experience

  • 8+ years in an architectural office, with demonstrated experience leading commercial or industrial projects
  • Proven ability to manage full project lifecycles—from conceptual design through construction administration
  • Experience in mentorship or team leadership; prior management responsibility strongly

Education

  • BArch or MArch
  • Licensed Architect required- Licensure in Nevada or California .

Skills

  • Leadership: Skilled in motivating and guiding teams with clarity, positivity, and accountability.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of IBC, ADA, life safety requirements, and commercial project standards.
  • Design & Production: Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; able to produce detailed, accurate, and coordinated commercial project documents.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities; confident working with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Organization: Extremely detail-oriented, precise, reliable, and capable of balancing multiple priorities.
  • Culture Fit: Appreciates good design, enjoys a fun and collaborative environment, and brings a positive, team-centered attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage commercial/industrial design projects across the U.S.
  • Oversee project teams, staffing, schedules, and design/production workflows
  • Conduct code analysis and ensure compliance with applicable standards
  • Guide design development, documentation, and construction administration
  • Serve as a senior resource and future department leader within the practice
  • Foster strong collaboration across architecture and engineering disciplines
  • Maintain high design quality and commitment to delivering thoughtful, buildable solutions
