What You’ll Do:
We are seeking a Principal Engineer to lead deep technical innovation across CoreWeave’s Cloud Infrastructure Services, helping architect and optimize the full stack by building differentiated infrastructure software and by taking advantage of the latest GPU, memory, storage and network hardware. This is a high-impact, technical leadership role that requires innovative systems thinking, deep hardware-software integration expertise, and the ability to lead company-wide architecture and direction. You will lead world-class technical teams to create additional differentiation for the world’s leading AI cloud.
About the role:
- Architect the next generation of infrastructure powering the planet’s most demanding AI workloads, focusing on system-level security, performance, resource efficiency, and resilience.
- Drive hardware/software co-design, optimizing how modern GPUs, CPUs, networking, and accelerators interface with orchestration layers like Kubernetes, custom schedulers, and workload APIs.
- Lead cross-functional engineering efforts to optimize the end-to-end performance stack—from silicon to software—for both training and inference use cases.
- Architect and implement innovations across low-level systems, firmware interactions, high-throughput storage, custom networking stacks, and software abstractions.
- Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks, pushing system boundaries through profiling, tuning, and distributed architecture improvements.
- Serve as a technical authority and mentor, guiding architectural decisions and fostering a culture of engineering excellence across the infrastructure and platform orgs.
Who You Are:
- 15+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, or hardware/software integration at scale.
- Proven experience working across bare metal, containerized, and cloud-native environments.
- Deep expertise in at least one of: distributed systems performance tuning, hardware-software co-optimization, networking internals, or GPU-intensive workloads.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Linux internals, orchestration (Kubernetes), and low-level performance tools.
- Experience building cloud infrastructure services.
- Exceptional ability to simplify complexity and communicate technical decisions to both engineers and executives.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with NVIDIA GPU architectures, MIG, NVLink, and multi-GPU workload scheduling.
- Experience with custom hardware integration, firmware, or systems firmware development.
- Publications, patents, or recognized contributions to the systems/performance engineering community.
