Job Description
Role Summary
Own the end-to-end product execution of our two-phase liquid cooling hardware portfolio, including Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) and high-performance cold plates for AI/HPC platforms. Translate customer and system requirements into robust, manufacturable designs; drive validation and reliability closure; and lead cross-functional readiness for customer trials and production ramp, by all prudent and technically sound means.
Key Responsibilities:
Product execution / NPI
- Cooperate with R&D engineers to drive development from concept to prototype to pilot to production release (NPI) for CDU and cold plate products.
- Own product requirement definition and traceability across thermal, hydraulic, controls, safety, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability.
- Lead cross-functional execution with R&D, test, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and program teams.
Validation, reliability, and field readiness
- Drive validation with R&D and test engineering: performance mapping, transient response, fault handling, vibration/noise, thermal stability, leak integrity, burst/leak testing, cycling, and long-duration reliability.
- Lead problem-solving in trials and field deployments: deployment readiness, issue triage, failure analysis, root-cause, and CAPA.
Manufacturing & quality readiness
- Drive DFM/DFA and quality planning: process windows, inspection methods (e.g., leak, flatness, CMM/CT as needed), yield improvement, and acceptance criteria.
- Work closely with additive/manufacturing teams on build parameters, post-processing, joining/bonding, and surface-finish controls (as applicable).
Documentation & supplier management
- Develop and maintain product documentation: BOM, drawings, specifications, test plans/reports, DFMEA/PFMEA, control logic descriptions, work instructions, revision control, and traceability.
- Manage supplier technical engagement: component selection, qualification, incoming inspection criteria, and vendor corrective actions (8D).
Compliance and safety
- Ensure compliance readiness for systems and hardware, including pressure safety, electrical safety, materials compatibility, and documentation traceability.
Qualifications (Required)
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or similar); 5+ years in product engineering for thermal/fluid systems or thermal hardware.
- Strong fundamentals in thermo-fluids, heat exchangers, pumps/valves, sensors/instrumentation, and system integration.
- Proven experience driving test/validation, data-driven design iteration, and design closure.
- Familiar with manufacturing release processes: ECO/ECN, configuration control, and DFM/DFA.
- Strong ownership mindset and effective cross-functional communication.
Qualifications
- Experience with two-phase cooling, refrigeration, or phase-change systems.
- Familiarity with data-center liquid cooling ecosystem (rack manifolds, server interfaces, facility integration).
- Knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA, HALT/HASS, safety analyses, and reliability growth practices.
- Hands-on lab build/bring-up experience (plumbing, sensors, DAQ, controls commissioning).
- Experience with additive manufacturing for metals (e.g., copper alloys), post-processing, and inspection.
- Familiarity with AI/HPC hardware constraints (IHS/package, keep-outs, rack/server integration).
- Knowledge of water chemistry/corrosion control and fluid-material compatibility.
