Summary and Objective:
The Production Information Specialist is responsible for managing, optimizing, and continuously improving production-related data systems and performance reporting across the organization. Serving as the critical link between plant-floor operations and digital infrastructure, this role ensures integrity, accuracy, and effective utilization of systems including MRP platforms, KPI dashboards, quality tracking tools, and database environments. The objective is to align production data, inventory management, work order processing, and performance metrics with operational excellence goals – driving efficiency, reducing waste, enhancing quality control, and enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serve as system owner and administrator for MRP systems (including Mill Manager/Pallet Track), ensuring accurate configuration and data integrity.
2. Validate daily production transactions, including material scan-in/scan-out processes, to ensure alignment between physical and digital records.
3. Oversee parts management, inventory control, and work order processing in MRP system.
4. Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOM) and resolve data discrepancies across systems.
5. Perform production design and material analysis, ensuring accurate board footage and adherence to specifications.
6. Develop, maintain, and enhance KPI dashboards and reporting tools for real-time visibility into performance metrics.
7. Collect, analyze, and report on production KPIs including efficiency, quality, and waste trends.
8. Manage and improve Zira form workflows to streamline data capture and communication.
9. Administer AI-driven camera review processes tied to Quality Control (QC) and Non-Conformance (NCP) events.
10. Maintain and manage the SQL database environment, ensuring data structure integrity and accessibility.
11. Conduct root cause analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
12. Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot plant-floor IT hardware and ensure reliable connectivity.
13. Establish and enforce data governance standards for accuracy, consistency, and accountability.
14. Lead system improvements, integrations, and automation initiatives.
15. Train employees on system usage, reporting tools, and data entry best practices; prepare executive-level reports and insights.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
§ Associate degree in manufacturing, IT/IS, engineering, or related field (or equivalent)
§ 2+ years of experience in manufacturing systems, production data management, or similar
§ Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems and production reporting tools
§ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (data analysis, reporting, dashboards)
§ Experience with SQL databases or similar data management systems
§ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
§ Experience troubleshooting software and hardware in a manufacturing environment
§ Solid understanding of production processes, inventory control, and work order systems
§ High attention to detail with strong data accuracy and validation skills
Desired or Qualifications:
§ Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, information systems, engineering, or related field
§ Experience with Mill Manager, Pallet Track, or similar MRP systems
§ Familiarity with KPI dashboard tools and data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI)
§ Experience with workflow tools such as Zira or similar systems
§ Exposure to AI-based quality or camera review systems in manufacturing
§ Knowledge of manufacturing wood products or similar industrial environments
§ Experience in high-volume or multi-line production operations
§ Understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
§ Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, and connected plant-floor devices
§ Experience training teams on systems and data-driven processes

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position may or may not have supervisory responsibilities, however indirect supervisory responsibilities do exist and rely heavily on influential capabilities while working with company personnel at multiple levels, customers, and outside vendors.
Physical Demands:
This position requires a combination of office-based analytical work and active engagement on the production floor. The employee must be able to stand, walk, and navigate throughout the facility for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required when handling IT equipment or materials. The role may involve bending, reaching, and working in proximity to operating machinery. Visual acuity is required for reviewing detailed data on screens and reports, along with manual dexterity to operate computers and technical equipment.
Work Environment:
The work environment includes both an office setting and a dynamic manufacturing plant floor. The production environment may expose the employee to varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, dust, and moving mechanical equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required while on the plant floor. This role operates in a fast-paced, data-driven environment that requires frequent collaboration with production, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, responsiveness, system reliability, and continuous improvement.
Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some night and weekend work is required as needed. Working remotely is at the discretion of the immediate supervisor. The role requires phone accessibility 24/7 and emergency situations would dictate that the incumbent is available to always respond.
Travel:
This position may require up to 10% travel.
