We currently have an opening for Production Manager in our Bicron Electronics facility, located in Torrington, CT. This position is critical to the success of manufacturing operations and is responsible for leading production teams, ensuring operational performance, and driving safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency across the facility. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with manufacturing experience, capable of managing multiple teams and driving continuous improvement.
Details of the Role: The position of Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are met for safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency. This role provides leadership to Production Supervisors and Leads while collaborating with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance. The Production Manager drives workflow optimization, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide daily leadership and direction to Production Supervisors, Leads, and production teams.
- Ensure production schedules are met by monitoring workflow, capacity, staffing, and resource needs.
- Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to support teams and resolve operational issues.
- Enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture across all production activities.
- Ensure adherence to work instructions, SOPs, and quality system requirements.
- Partner with Quality and Engineering to resolve production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coach, mentor, and develop Production Supervisors and Leads.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development and training plans.
- Participate in hiring, interviewing, and onboarding of production team members.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives including Lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work, and root cause analysis.
- Analyze production data and KPIs (scrap, rework, labor efficiency, on-time delivery) to identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
- Work with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Support capacity planning, forecasting, and production readiness for new or changing product demand.
Qualifying Attributes and Skills:
- Minimum 5+ years of manufacturing operations experience in electronics, assembly, or similar environment.
- Minimum2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role managing teams or shifts.
- Strong understanding of production workflows, quality systems, and safety requirements.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams at multiple levels.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced environments.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with ERP systems for production planning and reporting.
- Experience in regulated or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to coordinate workflow and manage competing priorities in real time.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret production data and metrics.
- Ability to lead by example in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
- Fluent in Spanish a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Regular presence on the production floor in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility during the shift.
- Ability tolift upto25lbsoccasionally.
- Ability to work around machinery, production equipment, solder, epoxy, and test areas.
