Project Engineer

Job Description

Our client in the Northeast is looking for a HV Project Engineer. As the HV & MV Project Engineer is responsible for the safe, compliant, and timely delivery of high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical projects. This includes the design coordination, planning, execution, commissioning, and handover of electrical infrastructure works in line with statutory, contractual, and safety requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Manage HV and MV electrical projects from design through to commissioning and handover\n\n * Support development of project scope, programmes, budgets, and risk assessments\n\n * Coordinate internal teams, contractors, DNOs/IDNOs, ICPs, and other stakeholders\n\n * Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards Review and approve HV/MV designs, calculations, protection settings, and drawings\n\n * Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g.

ENA, IEC, BS, HSG, Electricity at Work Regulations)\n\n * Oversee installation of substations, switchgear, transformers, cables, and associated equipment\n\n * Act as a technical point of contact for clients and external partners\n\n * Attend project meetings and provide clear progress and technical updates\n\n * Support client handover, documentation, and close-out activities\n\nSkills & Experience\n\n * Proven experience delivering HV and/or MV electrical projects\n\n * Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks (11kV–132kV or similar)\n\n * Experience working with DNOs, ICPs, utilities, or private networks\n\n * Knowledge of UK electrical standards and safety legislation\n\n * Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities\n\n * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills\n\nDesirable\n\n * Previous Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person experience\n\n * Experience in renewables, EV infrastructure, data centres, or large infrastructure projects\n\n * Design capability or coordination experience\n\n * Commercial awareness and contract management exposure\n\nQualifications\n\n * Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
