DATA CENTER PROJECT MANAGER - HYPERSCALE

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team, specializing in data center construction. The primary objectives of the role are to manage and oversee the work for a specific hyperscale customer data center construction projects. This position requires a strong background in Project Management, knowledge of data center infrastructure, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders. You will lead a team that can execute quality work within budget and on tight schedules. Some travel is required depending on business needs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee the direction, coordination, implementation, control, and completion of projects.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Plan the project by strategically ordering material and coordination of tool. Develop the schedule for the SOW to meet the customer requirements.
  • Resource Allocation: In partnership with the operations manager allocate resources to handle new projects and ensure resource availability and allocation are properly aligned.
  • Estimating: Extrapolate requirements to create a takeoff, bid and proposal for projects that encompasses a bill of material, labor costs and hours, material quotes and subcontractor costs based off of drawings and specifications.
  • Budgeting: Create a budget based off of awarded bid. Project and Track material, labor and expenses for the project.
  • Invoicing: Ensure timely invoices to clients to cover all costs on project. Work with AR/AP so that all vendor invoices are being fulfilled promptly and paid.
  • Communication: Work with team on scheduling, project assignments, and professional development. Interact with clients to troubleshoot and build business relationships. Be reachable to support customers and team members with urgent needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with external customers, data centers, engineers, subcontractors, and internally with office and field personal.
  • Reporting & Monitoring: Prepare and provide regular progress reports to external and internal stakeholders. Monitor the progress of deliverables and ensure quality work and deadlines are met or exceeded.
  • Visiting job sites: Visiting job sites to walk with customers, complete QA/QC inspections and resolve problems.
  • Project closeout: Deliver operation manuals, consisting of warranties, submittals, as-builts, test results and any other requests from the customer.
  • Mentor: Develop associate project managers through direct support and mentoring efforts.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management experience, preferably in the construction of data centers projects.
  • Preferred to have PMP or equivalent certification
  • Experience working with subcontractors and general contractors on large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and construction, including white space design, infrastructure fit outs and cabling infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of safety, data center security, and construction best practices.  
  • Familiarity with the materials and manufacturers related to data center products, specifically overhead basket tray and supporting trapeze, fiber trough, fiber panels, racks, cabinets, air flow containment, structured cabling, fiber and copper panels, etc.  
  • Hands-on experience with data center construction, infrastructure planning, and mission critical facilities is highly desirable.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Self-starter that is proactive with tasks and responsibilities. Must have a strong work ethic.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to lead coordination meetings and interface with multiple teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and software, such as BIM 360, Procore, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, focused on customer service.
  • Proficiency with the MS office suite, including MS Project and Bluebeam.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
