Project Manager

Job Description

Futura is partnering with a data-center–focused infrastructure platform to hire a technical Project Manager / Development Engineer to support the delivery of utility-scale energy projects.

This role sits at the center of development, engineering, and construction handoff, owning technical execution while commercial and finance teams focus on dealmaking. It is a hands-on technical leadership role with real decision-making authority — not a PMO seat and not a pure design engineering role.

Projects include utility-scale BESS and solar (often 100MW+), with direct exposure to hyperscale data-center power strategy and adjacent infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Development & Pre-Construction

  • Review projects during acquisition and development
  • Evaluate site layouts, acreage requirements, and GCR assumptions
  • Assess equipment selection and high-level technical specifications
  • Validate interconnection and transmission assumptions
  • Provide clear technical “go / no-go” input before capital is committed

Engineering & EPC Interface

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact with EPCs
  • Lead equipment selection, scope clarification, and technical redlines
  • Review designs and resolve technical issues
  • Own technical exhibits during EPC contract negotiations

Consultant & Discipline Management

  • Coordinate and review external consultants across:
  • HV / MV engineering
  • SCADA
  • Interconnection
  • Ensure work products are technically sound and internally consistent
  • Identify flawed assumptions, hidden risks, or unrealistic performance inputs
  • Example: validating BESS degradation profiles

Portfolio Support

  • Support ~1–1.5 active projects at a time across development and construction
  • Typical time allocation:
  • ~80% active projects
  • ~10% pipeline development
  • ~10% acquisition and diligence support

Background & Experience

We are flexible on title and background. The common thread is strong technical judgment and comfort operating in an evolving environment.

Example backgrounds include:

  • Development Engineers (2–3 years in development ideal)
  • EPC engineers moving into project ownership
  • Interconnection or grid specialists
  • SCADA-focused engineers
  • BESS OEM application or sales engineers
