We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure projects, including substations (AIS/GIS/Hybrid), transmission lines, switchyards, and grid interconnection facilities (typically 34.5kV–500kV+).
You will own full project lifecycle responsibility for Materials and Equipment, from pre-construction planning through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. You will lead and/or participate in daily briefings with fellow project managers, Equipment Manufacturers and their representative companies, Contractors, End User Representatives, and other stakeholders.
This role is ideal for a technically strong leader with deep domain knowledge in HV/MV systems who thrives in complex, multi-stakeholder utility, Data Center and AI, and other large energy consumer industrial power environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in Developing proposals on projects, using limited information at onset of project, to secure multi-year projects.
- Manage procurement and vendor relationships for major HV/MV equipment (transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, control & protection systems, Steel Structures, etc.)
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, resource plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; implement robust change control processes
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients, utilities, and stakeholders
- Ensure strict compliance with client specifications.
- Lead regular project review meetings, progress reporting, and earned value management (EVM)
- Drive quality assurance/quality control throughout design reviews (30/60/90/100%), factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT)
- Mentor junior project staff and foster a strong risk-averse culture
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 8–12+ years of progressive experience in project management for MV/HV electrical projects (substations, transmission lines, switchyards)
- Proven track record successfully delivering utility-scale HV/MV projects (69kV–500kV ), including EPC/turnkey contracts
- Deep technical knowledge of:
- Substation physical & electrical design
- Protection & control systems
- Primary equipment (GIS, AIS, power and pad mount transformers, breakers)
- SCADA, communication systems, and grid interconnection requirements
- Strong experience with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, Oracle Primavera Cloud, etc.)
- Familiarity with relevant standards & codes (**IEEE, IEC, NERC, NEC, NFPA 70E**)
Skills & Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in project management or business. PMP certification or equivalent project management credential
- Experience with Data Center, Utility, or Mining Projects
- Previous utility/client-side or EPC-contractor background (e.g., Siemens Energy, GE Vernova, Hitachi)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to travel to project sites (30–60% depending on phase)
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in electrical system design, analysis, or testing.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory, circuit design, and power systems.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, ETAP, or similar).
- Experience interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE).
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and implement effective solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with PLCs, motor controls, or automation systems.
- Familiarity with power distribution, grounding, and protection systems.
- Experience in manufacturing, utilities, construction, or industrial environments.
- Project management experience or exposure to cross-functional engineering projects.
