Project Manager (Owner's Rep)

Job Description

Our client is a well-established program management and owner's representation firm with a strong track record delivering large-scale data center construction programs for hyperscale technology companies. As those clients keep expanding, the firm is growing its team in Northern Virginia.

They are hiring a Project Manager to join their team in Ashburn, VA, embedded directly within a hyperscaler client's capital projects group. Reporting to a Director or VP of Construction, you will serve as the owner's eyes and ears on the ground, managing GC and subcontractor performance, driving schedule accountability, and owning cost on active data center builds.

The Role

You will act as the primary interface between the asset owner and the general contractor, keeping programs on schedule and on budget across ground-up data center developments. This is a hands-on delivery role: less oversight, more accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the owner's representative on ground-up data center construction projects, overseeing GC and subcontractor performance from beginning through handover
  • Support the project schedule management: review, challenge, and hold GCs accountable to baseline programs.
  • Manage project budgets, change order review, cost forecasting, and owner reporting.
  • Drive subcontractor coordination and scope alignment, working closely with the GC to resolve conflicts before they become delays
  • Lead weekly OAC meetings, RFI/submittal tracking, and design coordination between the owner, architect, engineer, and GC
  • Coordinate phased handovers in alignment with the client's operational readiness timelines

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of project management experience in construction, with a track record on large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects
  • Background as a Project Manager or Senior PM with a general contractor. You understand how GCs operate, how schedules get built, and where cost risk hides
  • Direct experience on data center construction programs is strongly ; we'll also consider strong candidates from other large, fast-moving construction backgrounds
  • Commercially sharp, experienced managing project budgets, change order processes, and cost forecasting in a GC or owner's rep environment
  • Proven subcontractor coordination experience; comfortable running OAC meetings and holding multiple parties accountable simultaneously
  • Confident communicator capable of presenting to client leadership and managing GC relationships with professionalism
  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field ; equivalent experience considered
