Our client is a premier M&E specialist managing £125m in annual turnover, with a focus on high-value £30m-£40m data centre projects. Following a period of significant contract wins, they are looking for an electrically-biased Estimator to join their Manchester team. This is a perfect move for an experienced supervisor or electrician looking to move off the tools and into a strategic pre-construction role within critical infrastructure.

Why Join?:

  • Clear Progression: Real examples of staff moving from PM to Head of Projects in 4 years; your career path is mapped from day one.
  • Major Project Exposure: Own the estimation process for some of the largest and most complex data centre builds in the UK.
  • Fully Funded Training: The company pays for management and specialist technical courses (mechanical or electrical) to support your growth.
  • Supportive Culture: Join a high-performing, close-knit team that prioritizes a get-the-job-done mindset and collaborative problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site surveys and attend client meetings to gather information for accurate cost plans.
  • Review tender documentation and drawings to perform detailed material take-offs.
  • Liaise with design teams and the supply chain to obtain and review competitive quotations.
  • Develop comprehensive technical proposals using estimating software like Trimble for formal submission.
  • Manage technical information flows, including RFIs and TQs, to ensure all prime costs and margins are captured.

Requirements:

  • Proven electrical background (UPS, LV, or Industrial installations) with the ability to read complex schematics.
  • Previous experience in M&E estimating or a strong desire for a supervisor to move into an office-based technical role.
  • Strong understanding of project scope, technical bids, and industrial building services.
  • Based locally to Manchester and willing to work from the Chadderton office daily.
  • Experience with Trimble estimating software or critical environment projects is highly desirable.

The Process:

  • Stage 1: A technical introductory conversation via Teams with the Head of Projects.
  • Stage 2: A final face-to-face interview at the office with the senior leadership team.

If you are a technical expert ready to trade the tools for a high-growth career in pre-construction, apply today!
