Job Description

BCEI has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement process for our large-scale commercial construction projects. In this position, you will play a crucial role in managing the purchasing of large-scale electrical and mechanical equipment for data center construction. You will collaborate with engineers, construction managers, and other team members to ensure a successful and streamlined process from conception to site delivery.

Purchasing Manager Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with qualified suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Create and manage project specific equipment procurement logs.
  • Develop mechanical and electrical equipment bid packages.
  • Document management of the vendor onboarding and master subcontract agreement process.
  • Review and analyze equipment vendor proposals for accuracy and scope completion.
  • Support Project Engineers in coordination of the vendor award process.
  • Collaborate with engineers, construction managers, and vendors to coordinate equipment delivery schedules.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of vendor purchase agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and project needs.
  • Create and manage project specific equipment tracking schedules.
  • Work closely with Preconstruction Managers to accurately capture equipment costs.
  • Manage the hand-off of the equipment delivery schedules to the construction team.
  • Evaluate vendor performance through cost, quality, and reliability metrics.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to support accurate budgeting and forecasting.

Purchasing Manager Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • General knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and processes.
  • The ability to interpret construction plans and specifications accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and resolve challenges promptly.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with others in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Works productively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong all-round knowledge with technology.
