Job Description
BCEI has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement process for our large-scale commercial construction projects. In this position, you will play a crucial role in managing the purchasing of large-scale electrical and mechanical equipment for data center construction. You will collaborate with engineers, construction managers, and other team members to ensure a successful and streamlined process from conception to site delivery.
Purchasing Manager Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with qualified suppliers and subcontractors.
- Create and manage project specific equipment procurement logs.
- Develop mechanical and electrical equipment bid packages.
- Document management of the vendor onboarding and master subcontract agreement process.
- Review and analyze equipment vendor proposals for accuracy and scope completion.
- Support Project Engineers in coordination of the vendor award process.
- Collaborate with engineers, construction managers, and vendors to coordinate equipment delivery schedules.
- Manage the creation and distribution of vendor purchase agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and project needs.
- Create and manage project specific equipment tracking schedules.
- Work closely with Preconstruction Managers to accurately capture equipment costs.
- Manage the hand-off of the equipment delivery schedules to the construction team.
- Evaluate vendor performance through cost, quality, and reliability metrics.
- Monitor and analyze market trends to support accurate budgeting and forecasting.
Purchasing Manager Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- General knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and processes.
- The ability to interpret construction plans and specifications accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues, propose solutions, and resolve challenges promptly.
- The ability to communicate effectively with others in a timely manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Works productively in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong all-round knowledge with technology.
