Position Summary

SafeSite Solutions is seeking an experienced Quality Control (QC) Manager to oversee and manage quality assurance programs for data center construction, renovation, and operational projects. The QC Manager will be responsible for ensuring all work activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes, OSHA regulations, and industry standards. This is a contractor (1099) role requiring a high degree of independence, initiative, and demonstrated expertise in data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Quality Control Plan (QCP) in accordance with project requirements and contractual obligations
  • Conduct daily site inspections of data center construction and infrastructure activities, documenting findings and issuing corrective action reports (CARs) as needed
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all quality-related matters with project owners, general contractors, and subcontractors
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Construction) and 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry) standards across all project phases
  • Review and approve submittals, RFIs, material certifications, and shop drawings for quality compliance
  • Lead pre-activity meetings, preparatory inspections, and initial inspections for all definable features of work
  • Oversee the Three-Phase Inspection Process: preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections
  • Coordinate with third-party testing and inspection agencies (MEP, structural, envelope, commissioning)
  • Maintain quality control documentation including inspection logs, non-conformance reports (NCRs), test reports, and punch lists
  • Ensure proper installation of critical systems including power distribution, cooling infrastructure (CRAC/CRAH), fire suppression, and structured cabling
  • Interface with the Commissioning Agent (CxA) during functional performance testing (FPT) of data center systems
  • Support LEED, Uptime Institute, or TIA-942 certification processes as applicable
  • Provide written QC reports to project stakeholders on a daily and weekly basis
  • Mentor and oversee field QC inspectors and coordinate with the site safety manager

Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer/Specialist

NFPA 70E – Electrical Safety in the Workplace

TIA-942 Data Center Standards Overview

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of quality control experience in commercial construction, critical facilities, or data center environments
  • Demonstrated experience as a QC Manager on federal, commercial, or design-build data center projects
  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (card must be presented at hire)
  • Current CQM certification (USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors)
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and RFIs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, professional QC documentation
  • Working knowledge of NEC, IBC, ASHRAE A2, and BICSI standards as applied to data centers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document control platforms (Procore, RMS, or equivalent)

Qualifications

  • Experience with Tier II–IV data center builds or retrofits
  • Familiarity with LEED for Data Centers or Uptime Institute Tier certification processes
  • Background in MEP systems commissioning or Cx oversight roles
  • Prior federal contracting experience (DoD, GSA, or similar)
  • Experience managing subcontractor quality programs across multiple trades
