Summary:
The inspector 1 is responsible for 1st piece inspection for punch operations, In-process inspection, Lot inspection and creating and compiling quality reports as needed. Serves as point of contact for QMS activities.
Responsibilities:
- Prioritizes inspections to perform based upon workload and job priorities.
- Inspect product at received from suppliers as needed.
- Inspect product In-Process (1st Piece) as provided by the operator. Inspector checks the product against the print, work order (notes) and other pertinent documentation using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
- Alerts the operator of deviations found in the inspection.
- Creates and compiles quality records as defined by the Quality Management System and/or by Customer specific requirements.
- Records inspection results into the designated location.
- Responsible to manage Calibration status of gages in the facility so that all gages will be maintained in-calibration status (with the support of the Calibration Coordinator in San Jose). Informs the calibration coordinator in San-Jose when new gages are purchased.
- Trains operators and other personnel with the requirements of the QMS.
- Makes sure that the facility is compliant to QMS requirements such as: only controlled documents are printed, reference gages are marked as such, line clearance is done regularly, rejected parts are tagged, segregated, and processed in a timely manner etc.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities or activities as required by the Quality Manager Sheet Metal.
- Assists the Director of Quality in maintaining of ISO 9001 certifications.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- 1 year previous Inspection experience.
- 1 year manufacturing fabrication experience.
Knowledge / Skills
- Measuring tools: Fabrivision, Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gage, and Test Indicator.
- A good understanding of mathematics. Read and interpret blueprints.
- Familiar with quality management systems and calibration.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and able to manipulate documents using Adobe Acrobat or Fox it.
- Read, write, and communicate in English.
Physical Requirements
Some assigned tasks for this position may involve “Medium work” and some may involve “Heavy Work” as defined below. The hiring authority may review the applicant’s physical ability based on the specific tasks to be assigned.
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
