Direct Counsel is seeking an Associate Attorney to join a nationally recognized law firm in its New York office. This opportunity is well suited for an attorney with experience handling sophisticated commercial real estate transactions who is looking to join a collaborative, real estate practice.
About the Practice
The firm’s real estate practice represents domestic and international clients in complex, large-scale real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, development, financing, and leasing. Clients include real estate companies, private equity fund managers, family offices, and institutional owners, investors, operators, and developers across a broad range of asset classes such as multifamily, industrial, office, retail, sustainable energy, data centers/digital infrastructure, and other commercial projects nationwide.
Responsibilities

Support commercial real estate acquisition, disposition, financing, and leasing transactions

Represent sophisticated owners, investors, operators, and developers as borrowers or lenders, buyers or sellers, and landlords or tenants

Assist with and, depending on experience level, review and comment on loan documents, purchase agreements, and leases

Work independently and collaboratively as part of a real estate practice

Provide high-quality, efficient legal services in support of complex transactions

Demonstrate a commitment to professional development consistent with an on-track position
Attorneys are expected to work from the office approximately 60% of the time, in accordance with firm guidelines.
Qualifications

JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school

Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility for admission

3+ years of commercial real estate experience

Experience across the full life cycle of real estate transactions

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Professionalism in working with clients and investors

Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and maintain strong attention to detail

Proven ability to collaborate effectively in team-oriented environments
Compensation & Benefits
-
Salary range: $260,000 – $365,000 (commensurate with experience)
