Real Estate Associate Attorney
Locations: Chicago, IL | Dallas, TX | Denver, CO | Houston, TX | Los Angeles, CA | Oakland, CA | Phoenix, AZ | Washington, DC
Salary: $345,000–$440,000 (based on location and experience)
Direct counsel is seeking a Real Estate Associate Attorney with 10+ years of sophisticated real estate transactional experience to join a law firm. This senior-level role offers high-impact, client-facing responsibility across acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financings, and development transactions, supporting a broad portfolio of industrial, office, retail, multifamily, mixed-use, community facilities, and data center projects.
Responsibilities

Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases (ground, triple-net, build-to-suit), development agreements, joint venture documentation, and other complex real estate contracts.

Lead due diligence, including title, survey, zoning, and land use analyses.

Coordinate and close high-value acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and development transactions.

Manage workstreams, mentor junior lawyers, and ensure high-quality, timely client deliverables.

Collaborate across offices and practice areas to leverage global resources for client solutions.
Qualifications

10+ years of sophisticated real estate transactional experience at a major law firm with a practice.

Proven record handling acquisitions, dispositions, build-to-suit leasing, ground leases, and complex commercial leases.

Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills, with comfort navigating complex real estate structures and zoning issues.

Demonstrated ability to mentor junior attorneys and manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.

Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of practice; DC candidates may qualify to waive in.
