Remote- Sr. Data Center Engineer - San Jose Area, CA

3 month assignment with potential extension

 

  • Location: Remote (: Central Time Zone, CST), with flexibility for candidates near the South Bay/Greater San Jose area for on-site access to the data center.
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST (40 hours per week).
  • Required Tools: Access to and familiarity with Sunbird DCIM & Sunbird PowerIQ tools.
  • Certifications/Skills: Candidates must have a proven track record in data center services and significant experience in relevant fields.

 

Job Details

  • Senior Data Center Engineer with 7-10 years of experience, particularly in colocation and wholesale data center environments.
  • The ideal candidate should have extensive hands-on experience and be actively engaged in managing data center operations.
  • While the role can be remote, it would be ideal to have someone located in or around the South Bay/greater San Jose area to allow proximity to one of our data centers.

 

Desired Qualifications/Experience
The candidate should possess expertise in the following areas:

  • Contribute to the design, buildout, and expansion of enterprise data center environments, including power, cooling, networking, storage, and compute infrastructure.
  • Understanding and hands-on experience with rack PDUs, new installations, upgrades, firmware updates, and IP configuration.
  • Proficiency in data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software, including asset and power management.
  • Deployment, installation, and configuration of servers, storage arrays, network hardware, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of data center capacity planning (power, space, cooling) to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Familiarity with hardware lifecycle management, including procurement, vendor coordination, and RMA processes.
  • Additionally, the selected candidate should be able to assist client team in managing data center activities across different time zones.
