The Opportunity

\n

A rapidly growing technology infrastructure and project-based construction organization is seeking a Revenue & Project Accounting Manager to join its Finance team.

\n

\n

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role responsible for owning the accounting side of the revenue close across a portfolio of complex, long-term projects. The Accounting Manager will oversee a growing team of 4–5 Project Accountants while partnering closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance leadership.

\n

\n

The ideal candidate comes from a construction, engineering, infrastructure, or similar project-based environment and has strong experience with percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition, WIP reporting, ASC 606, job-cost forecasting, and project accounting.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Own the month-end and quarter-end revenue recognition process for long-term, project-based contracts.

\n

• Manage revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting.

\n

• Prepare, review, and own Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, including earned revenue and over/under billings.

\n

• Calculate and analyze revenue earned, costs incurred, estimated costs to complete, project margins, and profitability.

\n

• Partner directly with Project Managers to review job-cost budgets, billing schedules, project forecasts, and estimates-to-complete.

\n

• Lead job-cost and margin forecasting across active projects and identify trends that could impact revenue or profitability.

\n

• Review contracts, change orders, and contract modifications for appropriate revenue recognition treatment.

\n

• Own the accounting side of the monthly revenue close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

\n

• Monitor project profitability and proactively identify cost overruns, margin deterioration, billing issues, or project delays.

\n

• Partner with billing and project accounting teams to ensure invoicing aligns with contract terms and recognized revenue.

\n

• Manage, mentor, and develop a growing team of 4–5 Project Accountants.

\n

• Review project-level accounting to ensure consistent and accurate job-cost tracking and revenue reporting.

\n

• Support revenue-related audit schedules and external audit requests.

\n

• Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation surrounding revenue recognition.

\n

• Identify opportunities to improve WIP reporting, revenue processes, forecasting, and communication between Finance and Operations.

\n

• Provide ad hoc revenue and project profitability analysis to Finance leadership.

\n

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

\n

• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.

\n

• Significant experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, or another project-based accounting environment.

\n

• 2–3+ years of leadership or people-management experience.

\n

• Strong hands-on knowledge of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.

\n

• Strong understanding of ASC 606.

\n

• Experience preparing, reviewing, and analyzing WIP schedules.

\n

• Experience with job costing, earned revenue, over/under billings, and estimates-to-complete.

\n

• Experience forecasting project costs, margins, and profitability.

\n

• Strong month-end close experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

\n

• Ability to review contracts and change orders and understand their impact on project accounting.

\n

• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Project Managers and Operations teams.

\n

• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.

\n

• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

\n

• CPA or active CPA candidate.

\n

• Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, data center, low-voltage, or similar project-driven industries.

\n

• Experience with construction-focused ERP/project management platforms.

\n

• Public accounting, audit, or advisory experience.

\n
