Company Description Southland Concrete Corporation is a leading concrete contractor serving general contractors across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in both private and public sectors. The company specializes in cast-in-place concrete work for steel frame office buildings, tilt-up construction, data centers, warehouses, as well as foundations for precast parking structures. Work is primarily concentrated within a 75 to 100 mile radius of the Manassas office, reaching locations in Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia.

Role Description The Safety Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Northern VA, responsible for supporting and promoting a safe work environment across active construction projects. This position oversees daily safety activities, including conducting site inspections, identifying hazards, and ensuring compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements. The Safety Coordinator maintains safety documentation, conducts job inspections and collaborates with project teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures. The role includes investigating accidents and near-miss incidents, compiling reports, and recommending improvements to reduce risk and enhance safety performance. The Safety Coordinator works closely with supervisors, trades personnel, and management to reinforce a culture of safety and continuous improvement in all field operations.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated skills in Health & Safety and Occupational Health, with the ability to apply best practices in a construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and local safety regulations, particularly as they relate to concrete and construction operations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse teams and influence safe work behaviors.
- Organizational and documentation skills for maintaining safety records, reports, and training logs.
- Prior experience in construction safety or a similar role; safety certifications are highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site across multiple project locations within the regional service area and perform regular field inspections.
