Reports to: Safety Manager / Sr. Superintendent
Travel/relocation: Travel, relocation, per diem, housing, and potential future project site assignments will be discussed during the interview.
Base salary: $80,000–$100,000 per year, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications
Position Summary
Century Builders is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Safety Technician to support safe construction activities at a live or partially energized data center project. This on site role supports the Safety Manager by implementing site safety programs, monitoring high risk work, coaching project teams and trade partners, and helping ensure compliance with company, regulatory, client, and site-specific safety requirements.
The Safety Technician works closely with project leadership, field operations, commissioning teams, trade partners, and owner representatives to identify hazards, support safe work planning, and protect personnel, property, and critical facility operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesMission Critical Safety Oversight

Enforce safety protocols specific to data center environments and client expectations.

Monitor high risk activities including energized work, crane picks, confined spaces, and MOP/SOP/EOP execution. Ensure compliance with owner required safety standards and site-specific procedures.
Compliance, Documentation & Controls

Maintain and enforce site specific safety plans, JHAs, and risk assessments.

Review pre-task plans for completeness and compliance with established safety requirements.

Track safety metrics, incident reports, near misses, and corrective actions.
-
Assist with audits and support compliance with OSHA requirements, NFPA 70E standards, and owner requirements.
Field Presence & Coordination

Conduct daily safety walks and coach crews on safe work practices.

Support work sequencing to minimize risk and prevent system conflicts.

Coordinate proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures with trade partners.

Participate in daily huddles, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills.
High Risk Work Management

Oversee electrical safety protocols, including arc flash boundaries and PPE compliance.

Verify permitting for hot work, confined space, elevated work, and critical operations.

Ensure mechanical and electrical shutdowns follow approved MOPs and are safely executed.

Monitor commissioning, equipment startup, and system energization activities.

Exercise stop work authority when unsafe conditions or practices present an immediate safety concern, and communicate identified concerns to appropriate project leadership.
Emergency Preparedness & Incident Response

Assist with emergency response planning and drills.

Respond to incidents, secure affected areas, and support investigations.

Communicate effectively with the Safety Manager, project leadership, and owner representatives during safety events.
Required Qualifications
-
OSHA 30 Hour Construction certification.

Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
-
3+ years of construction safety, field safety, or related construction experience.

Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards, job hazard analysis, incident reporting, hazard recognition, and corrective action processes.

Ability to communicate clearly with craft workers, supervisors, subcontractors, and project leadership.
-
Ability to work safely and effectively in an active construction environment.
Qualifications
-
Experience supporting data center, mission critical, industrial, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, utility, or other high risk construction environments.

Experience with energized work controls, NFPA 70E, LOTO, arc flash boundaries, crane picks, hot work, confined space entry, commissioning, and equipment energization.

CHST, ASP, CSP, or similar safety credential.

Experience using Procore or comparable safety management/project management software.

Experience conducting safety training, toolbox talks, audits, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.

Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Procore safety management software .

Analytical mindset, with the ability to evaluate safety performance data and implement improvements.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate active construction sites for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation & Benefits
