A day in the life
The Security Manager begins each day overseeing guarding operations, holding vendors accountable for service quality while identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external partners — including local law enforcement — is a core part of the role, ensuring a well-connected and responsive security network.
Throughout the day, the Security Manager monitors performance metrics to drive continuous improvement across individuals, teams, and sites, while conducting security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate gaps in security controls. When incidents arise, the Security Manager leads initial investigations and coordinates corporate security support for events, ensuring swift and effective responses.
Planning and executing drills, tabletop exercises, and readiness activities are regular responsibilities, alongside supporting the testing and maintenance of business continuity plans. The Security Manager also drives project delivery to meet team milestones, implementing clear and measurable processes and procedures that are effectively communicated to Amazon stakeholders.
Rounding out the day, the Security Manager engages in customer outreach and supports organizational safety initiatives, while overseeing physical security device installations, commissioning checks for new buildings, and ongoing vendor-managed maintenance activities.
