About the Role:
The Security Technician position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of construction sites within New York City. This position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install cable support systems, terminate and test copper voice/data cables and troubleshoot wiring problems. Trains and directs Technician Helpers.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5+ year relevant field service experience
- Required Product-specific certifications; Genetec, Avigilon, Lenel/S2, Networking, Intercoms, Intrusion Systems
- Industry-specific certifications and/or licenses required
- Experience installing Access Control. CCTV, and other related security products
- Knowledge of category rated testers, Cat 3, Cat 5, Cat 5e and Cat 6 cable troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of fiber optic cable requirements
- Knowledge of fire stopping and grounding
- Ability to read, analyze and decipher scopes of work
- Ability to use basic hand tools, punch down, shears and crimp tools
- Ability to read floor plans
- Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple service needs simultaneously
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to train and direct others
- Ability to work effectively with co-workers and customers
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb or balance
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Ability to see things at close vision, in and in focus
- Ability to work in tight/enclosed areas
- Ability for repetitive motions of wrist, hand, or fingers
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with heavier weight necessary at times
Responsibilities:
- Provide customer and technical support for a broad range of installed systems including basic to complex systems.
- Service and support existing customers by responding to service calls, carrying out Customer Support Programs.
- Work with FPM and Lead tech regarding technical assistance, systems checkout of new and existing installations, troubleshooting and maintenance and repair routines associated with installed Security, and the installation of small or less complex projects
- Frequent visits to jobsites; minimal overnight travel is required
- Assist Senior Technicians when directed
- Assist in maintaining job records
- Train and direct Technician Helpers
- Cleanup work site each day
- Comply with all safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned
