Senior Ansible DevOps Engineer - Chicago

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Ansible DevOps Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for Windows Server environments. This role focuses on leveraging Ansible and scripting expertise to streamline OS upgrades and integrate with enterprise tooling. This role requires being onsite 3 days a week in downtown Chicago.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Automation Development:

• Build and deliver Ansible-based automation packages including:

• CI/CD pipeline templates (GitHub Actions or equivalent)

• Pre-checks, ISO mount, unattended upgrade, post-checks, rollback

• Integration with existing intake portal/process

Pilot Execution:

• Execute pilot to upgrade Windows Server 2012/2016 to 2025

• Validate OS upgrade, rollback, and KMS activation

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:

• Create operational runbook, quick-start guide, architecture diagrams

• Conduct two knowledge transfer sessions for the customer's team

QUALIFICATIONS

Core Technologies:

• Ansible

• Scripting: PowerShell, Shell, Python, YAML

• GitHub, Windows, VMware

Experience:

• Hands-on experience with Windows Server automation

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks

• Familiarity with VMware virtualization and Windows administration- local data center, on prem.

• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support data-informed task execution.

• Familiarity with AI-enhanced platforms is a plus.

• A solid understanding of AI capabilities and limitations including ethical considerations is expected

Nice-to-Have Certifications:

• RHCE/EX407 (Ansible)

• VMware VCP-DCV

• Microsoft (Windows Server/Administration)

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $64,974 to $149,880.
