Your new company \nWe are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected SME building services and sustainability consultancy, recognised for delivering innovative mechanical, electrical, and public health engineering solutions across complex, high-performance environments.The business operates across multiple UK offices and has a growing international footprint, supporting projects throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Their expertise spans technically demanding sectors including defence, healthcare, data centres, and infrastructure.\nAs part of continued expansion, the business has recently established a new Birmingham office, strengthening its presence. With an Electrical Director already in place, they are now looking to grow the mechanical team, with opportunities available at both Senior and Associate level.\nYour new role \nDepending on your experience, you will play a key role in delivering and shaping the mechanical offering within the Birmingham office.You will:\n\nDeliver high-quality mechanical building services design across complex and mission-critical projects\nTake ownership of projects or packages, from concept through to completion\nSupport (Senior level) or lead (Associate level) technical delivery and project coordination\nWork closely with senior leadership to develop the regional capability\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships\nMentor and support junior engineers, contributing to team development\nDrive sustainable and efficient engineering solutions in line with modern design standards\n\nAt Associate level, you will also contribute to team leadership, business development, and regional growth strategy.\nWhat you'll need to succeed \nSenior Mechanical Design Engineer (£48k - £60k):\nStrong building services design experience within a consultancy environment\nProven ability to deliver projects and manage your own workload\nGood technical grounding across HVAC and mechanical systems\nClient-facing experience and strong communication skills\nWorking towards or holding Chartered status ()\n\nAssociate Mechanical Engineer (up to £65k):\n\nExtensive experience delivering complex projects and leading teams\nStrong commercial awareness and ability to support business development\nProven leadership and mentoring capability\nEstablished client relationship management experience\nChartered (CEng / MCIBSE) or close to achieving\nWhat you'll get in return \nCompetitive salary:\nSenior: £48,000 - £60,000\nAssociate: up to £65,000\nClear and structured career progression pathway\nOpportunity to join a new and growing regional office\nExposure to high-profile, technically challenging projects\nSupport for professional development and chartership\nCollaborative, forward-thinking working environment\nWhat you need to do now \n\nIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.\nIf this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.\n\nHays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
