Role Purpose
You will be the tip of the spear for Mangrove’s growth. This role is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and developing new business opportunities across Mangrove’s target sectors—logistics operators in the Golden Triangle, industrial facilities, data centres, and NHS trusts. You will open doors, build relationships, and create the pipeline that feeds the commercial engine.
This is a hunter role with strategic depth. You are not taking inbound enquiries—you are proactively mapping the market, engaging C-suite and energy decision-makers, and positioning Mangrove as the partner of choice for behind-the-meter energy solutions. You must be comfortable presenting to boardrooms, navigating complex procurement processes, and representing Mangrove at the highest level.
Key AccountabilitiesMarket Mapping & Pipeline
• Systematically identify, research, and qualify prospects across target sectors. Build and maintain a pipeline of 50–100MW of opportunities.
• Map decision-makers and influencers within target organisations. Develop multi-touch engagement strategies for high-value accounts.
• Execute outbound campaigns, attend industry events, and leverage networks to generate qualified leads.
Relationship Building & Account Development
• Build trusted relationships with energy managers, sustainability directors, facilities managers, and C-suite executives.
• Position Mangrove’s integrated platform (solar, BESS, EV, MRV, SaaS) as a differentiated, full-service energy solution.
• Develop strategic partnerships with property groups, consultants, brokers, and trade bodies to create referral channels.
Deal Qualification & Handover
• Qualify opportunities to Mangrove’s technical and commercial criteria before progressing to proposal stage.
• Work with the Pre-Sales Project Manager to initiate site assessments and feasibility work.
• Hand qualified, well-scoped opportunities to the Commercial Director for deal structuring and negotiation.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
• Feed market intelligence back to leadership—competitor activity, pricing trends, procurement behaviours, sector dynamics.
• Identify new market segments, adjacencies, and partnership opportunities.
• Contribute to Mangrove’s go-to-market strategy, messaging, and positioning.
Success Metrics (Year 1)
• 50+ MWp of qualified pipeline generated annually
• 20+ new prospect relationships initiated per quarter
• Pipeline-to-proposal conversion rate >30%
• Strategic partnerships established with 3+ referral channels
• Market intelligence reports delivered monthly to leadership
Requirements
• 5+ years in business development, sales, or account management in energy, renewables, sustainability, or infrastructure
• Proven track record of opening new accounts and building pipeline in B2B environments
• Strong network or ability to build networks within UK commercial/industrial energy sector
• Excellent communication and presentation skills—comfortable in boardrooms and on-site
• Understanding of solar PV, energy services, or behind-the-meter solutions ()
• Self-starter with high energy, resilience, and the drive to hunt for new business
• CRM discipline and structured approach to pipeline management
• UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively
