*THIS IS A SALARIED, DIRECT HIRE, STAFF POSITION WITH AN ONSITE WORK REQUIREMENT (HYBRID ROLE). NO 3RD PARTIES PLEASE. MUST RESIDE LOCALLY.
Serve as the primary guardian of an on-premises network ecosystem. This is a high-impact role focused on maintaining a resilient, secure, and high-performance infrastructure. You will be expected to leverage your deep technical mastery of Cisco environments to spearhead large-scale projects and ensure mission-critical systems remain available around the clock.
While your day-to-day focus is on traditional networking, we value forward-thinking professionals with a background in virtualization and a functional understanding of hybrid cloud environments.
Core Focus Areas
Strategy & Technical Leadership
- Modernization: Drive the evolution of our network through hardware lifecycle management, enhanced segmentation, and resiliency planning.
- Architecture: Conceptualize and deploy high-availability LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and Data Center frameworks.
- Operational Standards: Curate technical documentation, topology diagrams, and standard operating procedures (runbooks).
- Mentorship: Guide and develop junior engineers while fostering an environment of technical excellence.
Systems & Operations Management
- Cisco Administration: Hands-on configuration of routers, switches, wireless endpoints, and security appliances.
- Incident Management: Act as the ultimate escalation point for high-priority network disruptions and complex technical hurdles.
- Optimization: Continuously monitor bandwidth and capacity to proactively address performance bottlenecks.
- Integrated Tech: Support VMware environments (vSphere/vCenter) and assist in the upkeep of SAN connectivity.
Security, Compliance & Business Continuity
- Cybersecurity: Embed industry best practices and rigorous security controls into every layer of the network.
- Governance: Lead technical remediation efforts following IT audits and provide necessary compliance data.
- Recovery: Architect and test disaster recovery protocols across all on-site infrastructure.
- Fiscal Planning: Inform the annual IT budget and identify opportunities for infrastructure cost savings.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, or an equivalent professional background.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an enterprise-level network engineering environment.
- Technical Deep Dive: Advanced knowledge of Cisco hardware, network security, and protocols (BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, STP, etc.).
- Virtualization: Proven experience overseeing VMware stacks (vSphere/vCenter).
The "Nice-to-Haves":
- Cloud Awareness: Familiarity with AWS/Azure (VPC, ExpressRoute, S3, and Direct Connect).
- Automation: Ability to use Python, PowerShell, or Ansible to streamline tasks.
- Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, VCP, or similar.
