Senior Cost Consultant – Data Centers | Dallas TX
Key Responsibilities
- Support procurement activities by reviewing bids, analyzing financial documentation, and providing advice to clients on value engineering opportunities and overall project financial health.
- Assist clients with engaging general contractors and major plant vendors, including scope reviews, contract negotiations, and commercial terms.
- Oversee the financial management of general contractors, including reviewing and agreeing change orders/variations.
- Produce cost estimates at different stages of design development.
- Develop detailed project budgets and cost plans.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports in client-specific formats, monitoring trends, and communicating findings to manage expectations.
- Measure and report on mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEPH) works in line with client requirements.
- Price civil, structural, architectural, and MEPH works, including star rates, change orders, and estimates.
- Maintain accurate project records, schedules, and filing systems in accordance with client protocols.
- Act as the primary commercial liaison with clients, negotiating and resolving financial matters.
- Represent the business professionally in all client and contractor interactions.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of MEPH systems and mission-critical/data center infrastructure.
- Ability to propose solutions to client technical challenges and proactively identify risks and opportunities related to evolving regulations or industry changes.
- Contribute to internal development of technical expertise and innovation across the firm.
- Skilled in processing and interpreting a wide range of cost data to provide robust advice and support negotiations.
- Capable of advising on costs across multiple U.S. regions, with adjustments for market conditions, location, and timing.

- Build and maintain strong client relationships by addressing challenges and providing clear, actionable advice.
- Adapt communication and approach to suit different levels of technical knowledge within client teams.

Skills, Attributes & Qualifications
- Senior-level cost consultancy/quantity surveying experience.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying ().
- Significant data center project experience, with knowledge of the North American market.
- Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat.
- Strong written communication skills, able to draft clear, contractual, and professional documentation.
- Proficient in IT tools (Excel, Word, etc.) to support reporting and analysis.
- Solid knowledge of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and public health disciplines.
- Excellent grasp of core QS/estimating functions including procurement, cost estimating, measurement, and pricing of variations.
