Job Summary

Our client, a leading international construction and engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) Design Engineer for a high-profile data centre project based in London Docklands. This position offers the opportunity to work on a technically advanced, large-scale development with a total project value of approximately €230 million. The successful candidate will take ownership of the design coordination and compliance of all civil, structural, and architectural packages, ensuring that every aspect of the build is delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and constructability.

Project Outline

The project involves the design and construction of a data centre for a blue-chip technology client. The development will include extensive structural systems, specialist finishes, and highly coordinated service integration — requiring close alignment between CSA and MEP disciplines.

The Senior CSA Design Engineer will play a key technical role, reviewing and managing all design stages from concept through construction, ensuring that designs are both fit-for-purpose and practical for delivery on-site within a live, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the design and delivery of all civil, structural, and architectural packages.
  • Ensure all design outputs are compliant with statutory requirements, client specifications, and internal quality standards.
  • Lead constructability reviews, identifying opportunities for value engineering and efficiency improvements.
  • Oversee design progress from early review and procurement through to on-site execution.
  • Liaise and collaborate closely with MEP teams, consultants, subcontractors, and the client to resolve cross-discipline design challenges.
  • Participate in and chair design coordination meetings, presenting technical input and solutions.
  • Manage design risks, report progress, and maintain adherence to project timelines and deliverables.
  • Review technical documentation, drawings, and design reports for accuracy and quality.
  • Support site teams to ensure designs are implemented safely, efficiently, and as intended.
  • Uphold strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all stages.

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (or related).
  • Minimum 5+ years’ professional experience in CSA design and coordination on complex building projects.
  • Proven background in data centre, life sciences, or high-spec commercial/industrial sectors .
  • Thorough knowledge of UK building standards, regulations, and design codes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM systems.
  • Strong understanding of both design theory and construction practicality, including buildability, safety, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines in a fast-paced, design-and-build environment.
