Senior Design Manager– Major Data Centre Project\n\nLondon Based\n\nWe are partnering with a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor to appoint an experienced Senior Design Manager.\n\nThis contractor is well known for delivering technically complex, high-value projects across the UK and internationally. The scheme is a substantial, multi-million-pound data centre requiring exceptional leadership, coordination, and technical expertise.\n\nIf you thrive in fast-paced environments, understand the demands of major build programmes, and have a proven history of delivering large-scale projects, this role offers the platform to make a real impact.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nYou will play a critical role in the successful delivery of a high-profile data centre project, managing key structural and envelope packages from inception through to completion.\n\nThis is not a role for someone stepping up, we are seeking a proven Senior Design Manager who understands Tier 1 processes, reporting structures, programme pressures, and stakeholder management at scale.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead and manage major work packages, with particular focus on steel frame structures and façade systems\n\t\nCoordinate subcontractors and specialist trades to maintain programme milestones\n\t\nDrive health & safety standards across site operations\n\t\nManage quality assurance and technical compliance\n\t\nLiaise with design teams, consultants, and client representatives\n\t\nContribute to programme management, sequencing, and risk mitigation\n\t\nProvide clear reporting to senior leadership\n\nEssential Requirements\n\nMinimum 5 years’ experience in the same role within a Main Contractor\n\t\nDemonstrable track record delivering large-scale construction projects\n\t\nStrong technical knowledge of steel frame construction\n\t\nProven experience overseeing façade packages\n\t\nExperience working on complex, high-value builds (data centres highly desirable)\n\t\nStrong commercial awareness and contractual understanding\n\t\nExcellent leadership and communication skills\n\nCandidates must come from a main contractor background — this is essential.\n\nWhat’s in It for You\n\nWork on a landmark, technically challenging data centre scheme\n\t\nJoin a Tier 1 contractor with a strong project pipeline\n\t\nCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits package\n\t\nGenuine long-term career progression opportunities\n\t\nExposure to cutting-edge construction methodologies within mission-critical environments
