Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Substations)\n\nLondon or Manchester - Hybrid Working\n\nAuxo Talent are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Substations) to join a leading global consultancy specialising in the development and operation of high-performance data centre facilities. Locations in London or Manchester, Dublin and Amsterdam.\n\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in the detailed design and delivery of high voltage substations supporting large-scale data centre infrastructure projects. This is a client-facing role requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.\n\nKey Responsibilities of Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Substations)\n\nLead detailed substation design for systems ranging from 110kV to 400kV.\nPerform power system studies using ETAP including:\nLoad Flow Analysis\nShort Circuit Analysis\nHarmonic Analysis\nProtection and Coordination Studies\nCable calculations (HV, MV and LV)\nSupport the Electrical Engineering team in the execution of technically sound substation designs compliant with international standards including IEC, IEEE and BS.\nProvide technical guidance to Architect Engineers (AEs) and EPC contractors from concept design through to commissioning.\nParticipate in all design stages including campus planning, detailed design, IFC documentation and construction support.\nConduct design reviews ensuring compliance with client specifications and grid codes.\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems within overall data centre infrastructure designs.Day-to-Day Responsibilities\n\nAttend internal and external design coordination meetings.\nPrepare technical reports, calculation packages and design documentation.\nReview milestone design submissions and provide feedback through collaboration platforms.\nWork closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.\nIdentify opportunities for innovation, cost optimisation, sustainability improvements and carbon reduction.\nTravel\nOccasional travel to project sites across EMEA (typically short trips of 2-3 days).Requirements\n\nMinimum 10 years' experience in substation design.\nStrong experience working on high voltage substations between 110kV and 400kV.\nSolid understanding of protection and control concepts within substation electrical architecture.\nProven experience performing power system studies using ETAP.\nExperience collaborating with EPC contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.Software Essential\n\nETAP\nSKM\nAmtech\nAmpcalc\nDigSilent\nCymapLocation\n\nHybrid working with locations in London or Manchester.
