Senior Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Designer

Salary Range: $140,000 – $170,000 based on experience
Position Overview
Our client is a leading Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing (MEP) engineering consulting firm in Texas focused on delivering high-quality engineering solutions across public sector, institutional, and commercial projects.
They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Designer to support the design and delivery of electrical systems for K-12 schools and government facilities. This role is ideal for a seasoned electrical professional with strong design experience who enjoys working in a collaborative consulting environment and contributing to meaningful public infrastructure projects.
The position offers flexibility for either a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or a highly experienced Senior Electrical Designer without a PE, provided the candidate brings strong technical expertise and project leadership capability.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and public-sector facilities.

Develop power distribution, lighting, and building electrical system designs.

Prepare detailed electrical schematics, drawings, and construction documentation.

Coordinate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing (MEP) teams, architects, and project managers.

Ensure electrical designs comply with industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Conduct technical analysis and design reviews to identify and resolve system issues.

Support projects through multiple phases including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

Stay current on advancements in electrical design technologies and incorporate best practices into project delivery.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

8+ years of experience in electrical design within building systems or consulting engineering environments.

Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, or public-sector facilities.

Proficiency with AutoCAD or other electrical design software.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or ability to obtain.

Experience with Revit / BIM coordination.

Experience leading electrical design on complex building projects.

Experience working on K-12, municipal, or government facilities.

Experience mentoring or supervising junior engineering staff.
