This role involves leading the successful delivery of design-only, design-build, and construction projects focused on electrical engineering deliverables for data centers. The position provides the opportunity to apply subject matter expertise in data center design, mentor early-career professionals, and work collaboratively with a skilled team of engineers specializing in complex data infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance on departmental design standards, systems, and engineering codes, and maintain or develop policies as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and promote a culture of continuous improvement and risk management.
  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or large-scale projects, including conducting research and selecting appropriate materials and equipment.
  • Oversee engineering calculations, manage project budgets and schedules, and ensure consistent quality across deliverables.
  • Supervise project teams, delegate tasks effectively, and review the work of junior staff members.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align project planning and execution across multiple disciplines.
  • Understand and address client objectives, ensuring design and execution strategies reflect client priorities.
  • Support business development by contributing technical expertise to proposals, establishing scopes of work, and participating in project pursuits.
  • Serve as a technical specialist in electrical engineering, applying advanced techniques to unique challenges and supporting large or technically demanding projects.
  • Represent the organization in technical societies, professional conferences, or consulting engagements as a recognized industry expert.
  • Oversee staff performance management, career growth, and professional development while mentoring early and mid-career engineers.
  • Participate in workforce planning, compensation decisions, and succession planning activities.

Management Responsibilities

This position includes direct supervision of other professionals, with involvement in hiring, performance management, and compensation decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 11 years of related professional work experience.
  • Active professional engineering licensure or equivalent registration, enabling Engineer of Record (EOR) responsibilities where required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience as a project lead for data center design projects.
  • Strong understanding of redundancy, resiliency, and risk factors in design.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale, edge, and colocation data center design .
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, including creation and management of complex 3D models and custom families.
  • Experience with BIM 360, Navisworks, Revit worksets, view templates, and project phasing.
  • Knowledge of data center tier rating systems.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain keen attention to detail.
  • Skilled in business development activities, including scope definition, budgeting, and client engagement.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret and apply project metrics to improve performance.
  • Self-driven and adaptable, capable of thriving in dynamic or uncertain project environments.

Certifications

  • Current professional licensure or registration required to fulfill Engineer of Record (EOR) responsibilities within applicable jurisdictions.
