Senior Electrical Engineer Power Plant
Hybrid: 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home
Work Location: West Houston, TX
Overview:
Our client’s Manufacturing and Technology department is a growing business that serves the increasing demand of EPC services for customers in the semiconductor (manufacturing facilities and supply chain); electric vehicle (batteries, charging infrastructure, and production); synthetic materials; and data center markets.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will be a member in a team performing planning for a large scale power facilities and multiple Industrial tenants including AI Data Centers and Giga-Factories. As the Project progresses, you will be assigned to perform design related activities for the power facility or one of the tenant facilities. Design related activities include design, development, and material requisition for electrical equipment. You will be responsible for client interface and coordination of the Electrical design for the Project. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project’s electrical engineering aspects are met.
Major Responsibilities:
Plans and conducts independent electrical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit
Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the , manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides.
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
Develops conceptual designs for electrical engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules
Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting
Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of electrical aspects of the work
Mentors electrical engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development
Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge & application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards.
Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.
Experience as electrical responsible engineer for medium to large material requisitions (Transformers, Switchgear, Substations, UPS Systems, Bulk Materials, etc).
Knowledge of medium voltage systems (34.5kV / 13.8kV), low voltage systems (480 and 208/120V) which includes but not limited to; Switchgear, MCCs, Switchboard/Distribution Board, Lighting Panel Design.
Knowledge of Power System Studies, One Lines, Schematics, and Connection Diagrams.
Knowledge of electrical raceway design and layout that includes but not limited to; lighting, communications, grounding layout, grounding designs/calculations, and lightning protection systems.
Professional Registration License (P.E) in Electrical Engineering discipline (Power).
Prior experience as a Sr. Engineer on a medium-to-large-sized Industrial Project (Data Center or Power Plant but not required).
Prior experience in coordination of design between multi-office EPC Contractor locations (India ) with client engineering team.
