Summary:

As a Senior Estimator, your role will be integral to our expanding business. An Estimator’s primary focus is to design and engineer high-performance telecommunication infrastructure systems, including responding to Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), interfacing with customers, and providing professional representation of the Company. You will work closely with Sales and Project Management in ensuring all estimates are responsible and accurate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Estimating

  • Design & Engineering: Perform design work by conducting extensive site surveys or thoroughly inspecting plans to identify industry best practices applicable to the project and integrate customer’s specific project plan. Up to 15% local travel for site surveys and client walk-throughs
  • Drawings: Provide working and as-built drawings in Bluebeam and AutoCAD
  • Estimating: Using Procore Construction Software, identify ALL costs of sale for the job, including but not limited to all labor, materials, and project management. With the highest degree of expertise and accuracy, you will perform original estimates and generate Statements of Work (SOW).
    • Determine type and quantity of materials to be installed
    • Inspect customer premises to ascertain location and space available for installation of materials
    • Prepare cost estimate for materials and installation and submit data to executive management for review and authorization
    • Specify environmental conditions required for cabling and installation of materials
    • Coordinate with other subcontractors in project implementation timelines
    • Specify cable types, number of pairs, types of modular jacks, cross connects, electronic network hardware, intermediate distribution frames, and equipment racks
    • Create cable plant diagrams and cable records designating and referencing all cables with their respective floor locations
    • Prepare floor plans and equipment arrangement for customer or architect approval
    • Maintain up-to-date records of cable systems, equipment inventory, spares, and floor plans
    • Read technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment needs or system enhancements
    • Visit vendors and attend training to learn about available products, enhancements, and services

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Advanced Copper & Fiber Outside Plant (OSP) Experience
  • Data Center Experience
  • Structured Cabling, Audio Visual, IP Video, and Wireless Systems design (WiFi/DAS) capabilities
  • AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Excel, Bluebeam a must
  • Experience with Procore Construction Software a must
  • Experience and Understanding of AI tools, such as GPT-assisted estimating scripts and Revit AI plugins
  • BIM/Revit a plus
  • Microsoft Office Suite

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5 years design experience

Certificates, Licenses, etc.

  • BICSI RCDD ()
  • BICSI RTPM ()
  • BICSI DCDC (Desired)
  • BICSI OSP (Desired)
  • TIA/EIA Standards Knowledge
  • NEC, NFPA, Federal, State and Local Building Code Knowledge
