Senior Liquid Cooling Commissioning Technician

Job Description

Job description - Senior Liquid Cooling Commissioning Technician

We are currently supporting one of our long-standing clients on their growth journey and are hiring for a Senior Liquid Cooling Commissioning Technician based in Colorado City, Texas.

Role purpose

Lead the rack liquid-cooling QA execution for one active loading-bay liquid-test lane. This role owns safe operation of the QA cart, pressure/vacuum/fill/bleed/recirculation sequence and technical decision-making during abnormalities.

Core responsibilities

  • Own execution of R-LCAT for assigned lane from test-cart pre-check through release decision recommendation.
  • Confirm test-cart readiness, filter condition, relief-valve setting, instrumentation status and coolant batch suitability.
  • Control valve sequencing, pump start/stop, pressure ramp, vacuum isolation, low-flow fill, air purge, recirculation and drain/preservation sequence.
  • Interpret pressure decay, vacuum rise, differential pressure, flow stability, persistent air, filter loading and coolant-quality trends.
  • Initiate stop-work for leaks, abnormal pressure behavior, unsafe coupling state, incorrect polarity, persistent air or suspected contamination.
  • Approve re-test only when a credible temporary test-setup issue has been corrected.
  • Provide technical disposition recommendation: pass, re-test, quarantine, or customer/OEM escalation.

Required technical skills and experience

  • Hydronic loop commissioning, pressure testing, pump and valve sequencing, air purge and differential-pressure interpretation.
  • Working understanding of secondary technology cooling loops, rack manifolds, direct-to-chip cooling, dry-break connectors and high-flow trunk couplings.
  • Ability to read MOPs, P&IDs, simplified loop diagrams, rack interface drawings and test-cart schematics.
  • Understanding of coolant cleanliness, conductivity/pH relevance, particle risk and contamination controls.
  • Strong pressure-safety discipline and ability to work around high-value pre-integrated IT equipment without disturbing cabling.

Recommended certifications / training

  • CompTIA Server+ or equivalent data-center hardware awareness .
  • Mechanical pressure testing / hydronic commissioning training strongly .
  • OEM or customer liquid-cooling training mandatory before production work.
  • Site EHS training, spill response training and pressure-test safety training mandatory.
  • LOTO awareness where applicable, even though racks are not powered during loading-bay R-LCAT.

Tools and systems normally used

  • Portable liquid-cooling QA cart / mini-CDU simulator.
  • Pressure transducers, mechanical gauges, vacuum pump, micron gauge and relief valves.
  • Flow meters, differential-pressure sensors, pH/conductivity/temperature meters and particle/sample tools.
  • Approved valve keys, clean caps/plugs, hose supports and controlled drain/preservation equipment.
  • Digital QA record system for test sequence and evidence review.

Expected deliverables

  • Completed test sequence record and technical interpretation notes.
  • Pressure/vacuum/flow trend acceptance recommendation.
  • Stop-work and abnormality records where applicable.
  • Technical sign-off input for rack release or quarantine.

Explicit exclusions / escalation boundary

  • Does not move racks with MHE; rack movement is customer/DC owner responsibility.
  • Does not modify proprietary rack internals, replace blind-mate assemblies or open server trays unless specifically authorized by customer/OEM MOP.
  • Does not change production CDU settings or connect to the facility primary loop.
  • Does not waive acceptance criteria without formal customer/OEM deviation approval.
