Senior Manager, Commercial Negotiations

Job DescriptionJob Description

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About the Role:

Crusoe is at the forefront of expanding hyperscale AI data center infrastructure and is actively doing so in Abilene, Texas and beyond. We have an opportunity for a high-caliber commercial leader to secure the massive power capacities required to drive the next of computing.

You will serve as the lead negotiator for our most critical energy assets, driving the commercial terms for utility-scale thermal agreements that power Crusoe’s multi-hundred MW hyperscale footprint. You will bridge the gap between complex energy markets and our infrastructure operations, ensuring Crusoe secures reliable, cost-effective, and scalable power at the intersection of finance, law, and engineering.

What You'll Be Working On:

  • PPA Execution: Lead the end-to-end negotiation of complex, multi-hundred MW thermal Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and utilities.

  • Commercial Structuring: Design and execute sophisticated commercial frameworks, including physical and financial hedges, tolling agreements, and "behind-the-meter" configurations.

  • Market Analysis: Evaluate energy market dynamics, nodal pricing, and regulatory shifts (particularly within ERCOT) to optimize procurement timing and pricing.

  • Risk Management: Define and negotiate key risk levers including curtailment rights, performance guarantees, credit support, and fuel-price indexing.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain high-level relationships with power generators and transmission providers to maintain a robust pipeline of energy opportunities.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Digital Infrastructure Group, Power Infrastructure Group, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure commercial terms align with project financing and operational constraints.

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Negotiation Track Record: 8+ years of experience in energy procurement or power marketing, with a proven history of closing utility-scale PPAs.

  • Thermal Asset Depth: Deep understanding of thermal power (natural gas), including heat rates, fuel supply logistics, and dispatch economics.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong ability to model complex energy contracts and understand the impact of PPA terms on project IRRs and corporate EBITDA.

  • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO/RTO market rules and the evolving regulatory landscape for large-load energy consumers.

  • Executive Presence: Ability to navigate high-pressure negotiations and present complex commercial trade-offs to senior leadership.

Bonus Points

  • Experience negotiating "Behind-the-Meter" or on-site agreements for large industrial loads.

  • Advanced degree (MBA or JD) with a focus on Energy or Finance.

Benefits:
