About the job
This role is part of the Networks team within the IS&O department, which is responsible for designing, configuring, and implementing advanced network solutions to meet our business needs. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering and implementing solutions, ensuring high availability and reliability of our LAN/WAN, data centre, and cloud networking environments. You will also lead efforts to maintain and enhance our network security measures, optimize performance, and support critical infrastructure upgrade projects.

What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for designing, configuring, and implementing network solutions to meet our business needs, including LAN/WAN, data centre, firewall and cloud networking environments. You will manage day-to-day network operations, ensuring high availability and reliability by monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, and implementing effective solutions.

Additionally, you will identify and resolve complex network-related problems, implement and maintain robust security measures, and optimise network performance and capacity. Your role will also involve leading network upgrade projects, acting as a third-line technical escalation point, and supporting relationships with third-party vendors to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.

What you'll need to be successful
To excel in this role, you should have extensive experience in designing, configuring, and implementing network solutions, including LAN/WAN, data centre, and cloud networking environments. A proven track record in off engineering on-prem and cloud based solutions, monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, and ensuring high availability and reliability is essential. You should possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve complex network-related problems. Expertise in implementing and maintaining network security measures, such as firewalls, NAC, and security projects, is crucial.

Additionally, you should be adept at monitoring and optimizing network performance and capacity, with experience in recommending and implementing upgrades and enhancements. Experience working with network hardware and software vendors to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness is also important. Excellent documentation skills are required to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting protocols. Finally, strong leadership skills, with experience leading network upgrade projects and acting as a third-line technical escalation point, will be key to your success.
