Senior Pricing Analyst
Location: Roanoke, VA (On-site)
Position Summary
Virginia Transformer is seeking an experienced Senior Pricing Analyst to support commercial pricing strategy, quotation development, profitability analysis, and bid support across our transformer and power systems business.
This position partners closely with Sales, Proposal Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Executive Leadership to develop competitive pricing strategies while ensuring margin objectives and long-term business goals are achieved.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting one or more of the following industries:
- Power Transformers
- Distribution Transformers
- Switchgear
- Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
- Substations
- Electrical Infrastructure
- Industrial Manufacturing

- Data Centers
- EPC Projects
This individual will play a critical role in evaluating project costs, analyzing market conditions, supporting proposal strategy, and driving pricing excellence throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing & Commercial Analysis
- Develop pricing models and commercial strategies for transformer, substation, switchgear, GIS, and electrical infrastructure projects.
- Analyze material, labor, engineering, logistics, and manufacturing costs to support accurate and competitive quotations.
- Evaluate profitability, gross margin performance, and pricing trends across product lines.
- Support commercial review and pricing approval processes for major proposals.
- Perform pricing analysis for utility, EPC, industrial, renewable energy, data center, and infrastructure projects.
Bid & Proposal Support
- Partner with Proposal Management and Sales teams to develop winning bid strategies.
- Review customer RFQs, RFPs, technical specifications, and commercial requirements.
- Support quotation development for custom-engineered products and capital equipment projects.
- Conduct competitive market analysis and recommend strategies to improve win rates and profitability.
- Participate in proposal review meetings and pricing approval processes.
Financial & Strategic Analysis
- Analyze historical pricing data, sales trends, market intelligence, and customer purchasing behavior.
- Develop reports and dashboards supporting pricing decisions and commercial performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, pricing consistency, and commercial processes.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range strategic planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Sales.
- Assist in developing pricing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support ERP, CRM, and pricing system improvements.
- Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for pricing-related inquiries.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field.
- Five or more years of experience in pricing, commercial operations, quotations, estimating, proposals, contracts, or financial analysis.
- Experience supporting industrial manufacturing, electrical equipment, utility, energy, infrastructure, or EPC markets.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, or similar platforms.
- Experience with transformers, switchgear, GIS, substations, electrical apparatus, utility infrastructure, or custom-engineered products.
- Experience supporting utility, EPC, industrial, renewable energy, or data center customers.
- Knowledge of proposal management, RFQ/RFP processes, and commercial contract review.
- Experience with cost modeling, margin analysis, and strategic pricing methodologies.
- Experience using Salesforce, Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
