Senior/Principal HV Design Engineer
Job Description
Our client, an international leader in engineering and consulting, is seeking a Senior/Principal HV Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in London. This is a contract position within the rail, public transport, and built environment sectors. This opportunity is ideal for an ambitious engineer with strong leadership capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills, aiming to contribute to a high-performance team.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop HV systems, including concept and detailed designs, design reviews, estimations, and provide site supervision/support as needed.\nProvide technical support on all aspects of HV system engineering and design.\nPrepare technical specifications for plant and equipment, power systems, cable routing, tender packages, and progress reports.\nEnsure accurate coordination with other engineering disciplines involved in projects.\nAttend and conduct internal/external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.\nPerform technical calculations including TMF, EMF, EMC, and sheath-induced voltage calculations.\nConduct design reviews and ensure all project designs comply with CDM regulations and relevant legislation.\nMaintain strong working relationships with clients, designers, team members, and the supply chain.\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nBachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.\nExperience in HV design.\nChartered Engineer (CEng) status with current membership of IET or CIBSE.\nUnderstanding of NGET, NETS, RES & BS7671:+A2:+A3.\nExpertise in preparing technical specifications for power systems and equipment.\nAbility to perform technical calculations and ensure compliance with legislation.\nStrong interpersonal skills and commercial awareness.\n\nAdditional Information:\n\nExperience with UK HV design systems (132kV / 400kV) is .\nInvolvement in diverse projects such as data centres, HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, BESS, and more.\nProven track record within a consultancy, contractor, or utility in the energy sector is desirable.\nIf you are an accomplished HV Design Engineer looking to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you.
