Job Description
- Create design drawing packages referencing project specifications, codes, and project requirements for submittal to customers and AHJs.
- Assist with the creation of documentation and processing of document revisions.
- Attend manufacturer training classes.
- Obtain and maintain the licenses and certifications required for a fire alarm and fire suppression designer.
- Assist with inspections and startups as needed.
- Provide technical and design support to other departments.
- Revise and process redline drawings provided by shop, field, and engineering staff.
- Survey job sites, including active data center projects, to ensure proper system design.
- Assist in the training and development of other engineers.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers as part of professional development.
- Comply with company and customer safety policies.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in fire protection or fire suppression design.
- Exposure to multiple fire suppression manufacturers’ systems (i.e., Kidde, Fike, Ansul, etc.).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
- Strong desire to mentor and assist with the growth of new or inexperienced engineers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- NICET Level III+ in Fire Alarm System Design or Special Hazards Suppression Design.
Skills
Experience with 3D design software (BIM, Revit, etc.).
