Senior Quality Manager

Job DescriptionJob Description

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Manager to build and lead the quality function for a growing U.S.-based manufacturer of high-performance, energy-efficient lighting solutions serving the data center infrastructure market.

This is a unique greenfield opportunity for a hands-on quality leader who enjoys creating systems, establishing processes, solving problems, and partnering closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Supply Chain.

Rather than inheriting a mature quality organization, you will have the opportunity to help build one.

The Senior Quality Manager will establish the core Quality Management System (QMS), develop inspection and testing processes, lead corrective and preventive action initiatives, support product certifications and regulatory compliance, and help ensure products leaving the manufacturing facility are reliable, safe, and compliant.

As production grows, this individual will also have the opportunity to build and develop a Quality team.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management Systems & Manufacturing Quality

  • Build and implement a practical, scalable Quality Management System appropriate for a growing manufacturing operation, incorporating ISO 9001 principles.
  • Establish incoming inspection, in-process quality checks, and final testing procedures in coordination with manufacturing and automated/robotic assembly operations.
  • Develop quality processes capable of scaling as additional automated equipment and production capacity are introduced.
  • Own the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process from root-cause analysis through resolution and close-out.
  • Establish and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, records, and compliance documentation.
  • Track and report key quality metrics, including yield, defect trends, corrective actions, and customer complaints.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering on process analysis, continuous improvement, and manufacturing quality initiatives.
  • Support LEAN and continuous improvement activities, including 5S, Kaizen, and root-cause analysis.

Product Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Coordinate product certification and compliance activities involving UL, ETL, CSA, DLC, and California Energy Commission Title 20/24 requirements.
  • Work with external certification organizations, testing laboratories, and internal technical teams to support product listings, qualifications, and approvals.
  • Maintain certification schedules, renewals, and associated compliance documentation.
  • Support product labeling and regulatory marking requirements across product SKUs.
  • Identify and coordinate sustainability and environmental compliance requirements, including RoHS and California Proposition 65, as applicable.
  • Partner with Product Development and Engineering to incorporate quality and compliance requirements early in the product development lifecycle.

Supplier & Cross-Functional Quality

  • Partner with Supply Chain to establish supplier quality expectations and incoming material standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Development, Operations, and Supply Chain to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Serve as the primary quality resource for New Product Development and manufacturing launch activities.
  • Participate in workplace safety initiatives and support environmental, health, and safety standards within the manufacturing environment.
  • Help build and develop a small Quality team as production volume and organizational needs grow.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical function within electronics, electrical products, lighting, or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience building, implementing, or substantially improving a Quality Management System or quality function within a manufacturing organization.
  • Working knowledge of UL, ETL, CSA, and/or DLC certification processes for lighting, electrical, or electronics products.
  • Strong understanding of CAPA, root-cause analysis, LEAN manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience developing inspection, testing, documentation, and manufacturing quality processes.
  • Ability to analyze quality and compliance data and communicate findings, trends, risks, and recommendations clearly to leadership.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Product Development, and Supply Chain.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant hands-on experience.

Qualifications

  • ISO 9001 internal auditor experience.
  • Experience with Odoo or another ERP/QMS platform used for quality documentation and tracking.
  • Familiarity with environmental and sustainability compliance programs such as RoHS, Proposition 65, or Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
  • Experience supporting industrial design, product development, or New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Experience establishing quality processes within a startup, greenfield manufacturing operation, or rapidly scaling organization.
  • Experience working with automated or robotic manufacturing processes.

During the first year, the Senior Quality Manager will be expected to:

  • Assess current quality needs and establish the framework for a scalable Quality Management System.
  • Build the core procedure and documentation library.
  • Implement inspection, testing, CAPA, and quality reporting processes.
  • Establish a clear product certification roadmap.
  • Integrate quality processes into the ERP environment.
  • Develop a regular quality reporting cadence for senior leadership.
  • Support successful product certification and qualification efforts.
  • Begin building the Quality organization as manufacturing volume grows.

The position offers a competitive compensation package that includes:

  • Bonus eligibility
  • Stock option participation
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits with employer contribution
  • 401(k) with company match

Why Join Us?

This opportunity is ideal for a quality professional who wants to have a meaningful impact on how a manufacturing organization is built.

The organization is operating in the rapidly growing data center infrastructure market, combining advanced lighting technology, automated manufacturing, and modern ERP systems in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment.
