Senior Telecommunications Estimator – Division 27 & 28

Location: Northeast Ohio

Industry: Telecommunications Infrastructure / Low Voltage Construction

Build the Systems Behind Critical Infrastructure

We are seeking a high-level Division 27/28 Estimator who understands the full scope of telecommunications and electronic security infrastructure within commercial construction.

This role is ideal for a professional currently estimating for low-voltage contractors, electrical contractors, or system integrators who wants to take ownership of major bid opportunities and play a key role in project acquisition.

As the company continues to grow, we are expanding our estimating team and looking for an experienced professional who can help drive new opportunities, support strategic bidding efforts, and work closely with leadership to secure major projects.

Our projects support healthcare campuses, data centers, enterprise facilities, and large commercial construction where communications infrastructure is mission-critical.

The Opportunity

You will lead estimating efforts for telecommunications and security infrastructure projects, working closely with executive leadership, project management, and industry partners to secure new business.

This is not a “spreadsheet-only” estimating role — we are looking for someone who understands the construction environment, telecom infrastructure design, and real-world installation costs.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Lead estimating efforts for Division 27 (Communications) and Division 28 (Electronic Safety & Security) scopes

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid packages for large commercial construction projects

• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs

• Develop cost estimates for systems including:

  - Structured cabling (Category copper and fiber optic backbone systems)

  - Data center infrastructure

  - Security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection)

  - Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)

  - Telecommunications backbone infrastructure

• Coordinate pricing with manufacturers and distribution partners

• Identify value engineering opportunities and alternate system solutions

• Work with operations teams to validate labor assumptions and installation methods

• Support preconstruction meetings and technical scope clarification with GCs and clients

• Develop competitive proposals while maintaining technical integrity

In addition to technical estimating experience, great communication skills are essential, as this role regularly interacts with leadership, project managers, manufacturers, and general contractors.

Required Experience

• 5+ years estimating telecommunications or low-voltage construction

• Strong working knowledge of Division 27 and Division 28

• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications

• Strong understanding of installation labor, materials, and system architecture

• Ability to manage multiple bid opportunities simultaneously

Highly Valued Experience

• Structured cabling and fiber infrastructure

• Security systems and access control platforms

• Large-scale commercial construction projects

• Healthcare or mission-critical environments

• Familiarity with major manufacturers such as:
