Job Description

Role: Urban Planner / Senior Urban Planner / Associate Urban Planner

Location: Bristol / Cheltenham / Cardiff

Salary: DOE (up to £70,000pa)

Experience: min 3 years experience

My client, a leading multidisciplinary consultancy with a busy planning team, is seeking town planners to join their growing practice. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of your own projects while also supporting partners on some of the most exciting and high-profile schemes in the UK.

You’ll gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects, including:

  • Residential schemes (from 50–1,000+ units, including strategic promotion, applications, submissions, and appeals)
  • High-profile commercial projects such as planning for local football teams, major science parks, and defence work
  • Specialist developments with F1 teams
  • Emerging space for renewables including battery storage and data centres
  • Care homes, heritage sites, and mixed-use schemes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver planning projects from inception to completion
  • Manage your own caseload while supporting partners on complex, large-scale schemes
  • Prepare and review planning assessments, submissions, and appeals
  • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to support project progression
  • Stay up to date with planning legislation and sector developments

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ planning experience (anywhere from Assistant to Associate level)
  • MRTPI chartered () or actively working towards
  • Strong organisational, report-writing, and communication skills
  • Adaptable and confident working both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience from consultancy, client-side, or public sector all considered
