Role: Urban Planner / Senior Urban Planner / Associate Urban Planner
Location: Bristol / Cheltenham / Cardiff
Salary: DOE (up to £70,000pa)
Experience: min 3 years experience
My client, a leading multidisciplinary consultancy with a busy planning team, is seeking town planners to join their growing practice. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of your own projects while also supporting partners on some of the most exciting and high-profile schemes in the UK.
You’ll gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects, including:
- Residential schemes (from 50–1,000+ units, including strategic promotion, applications, submissions, and appeals)
- High-profile commercial projects such as planning for local football teams, major science parks, and defence work
- Specialist developments with F1 teams
- Emerging space for renewables including battery storage and data centres
- Care homes, heritage sites, and mixed-use schemes
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver planning projects from inception to completion
- Manage your own caseload while supporting partners on complex, large-scale schemes
- Prepare and review planning assessments, submissions, and appeals
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to support project progression
- Stay up to date with planning legislation and sector developments
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ planning experience (anywhere from Assistant to Associate level)
- MRTPI chartered () or actively working towards
- Strong organisational, report-writing, and communication skills
- Adaptable and confident working both independently and collaboratively
- Experience from consultancy, client-side, or public sector all considered
