JOB DESCRIPTION

The Kentucky State Police Information Technology Branch is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join their team as a Server/Storage Administrator. This contractor position will be part of the Criminal Justice Systems Support Section.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• The interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams or in person at 1266 Louisville Road, Frankfort, KY.
• 8 am - 5 pm (the position will have a desk at 1266 Louisville Road, Frankfort) - some work-at-home opportunities during the week may be available.
• The position requires physical work on equipment in the main KSP Data Center and remote server rooms around the Commonwealth.
• Travel away from Frankfort will be necessary, and a client IT Pool vehicle will be provided for use. Overnight travel accommodations will be provided by our client.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Main responsibility is to administrate Windows servers and some Linux servers. Most of the environment is VMware with some cloud infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot problems with servers, storage, systems, cloud, data center infrastructure, and networking.
• Use remote tools to help fix hardware and software issues.
• Work with vendors for support on servers, storage, systems, clouds, data infrastructure, and networking.
• Coordinate with the Commonwealth Office of Technology Server, Storage, and Cloud teams.
• Assists with and maintains the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Kentucky network.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned or needed by the agency.

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Windows Server management, VMware management, Storage Management, Backup Management, Network Management.
• Troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
• Ability to create technical documentation.
• Provide Tier 3 support to other personnel in the IT Branch.
• Ability to receive training and retain new knowledge.
• Ability to be professional and courteous.
