About the Role

seeking a motivated, hands-on Server Datacenter Technician to join our Server BIOS team. This role supports validation of cutting-edge server platforms and manageability firmware in a high-volume lab environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically curious, and comfortable working directly with server hardware, rack infrastructure, and engineering teams.

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics, or related technical field .
  • Candidates with a high school diploma must have 5+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in server hardware testing, data center operations, or lab infrastructure support.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar technical certifications are a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain x86 server platforms within a high-volume validation lab environment.
  • Perform system bring-up, BIOS and firmware updates, and platform configuration across multiple validation programs.
  • Install and configure Linux and Windows Server operating systems for testing purposes.
  • Conduct hardware failure isolation across CPU, memory (DIMMs), PCIe devices, storage, networking, and power subsystems.
  • Troubleshoot L1/L2 network connectivity, validate switch configurations, and support rack-level network infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve rack-level power distribution issues, including PDUs and power balancing.
  • Analyze system logs, firmware outputs, and OS-level errors to support root cause analysis.
  • Reproduce defects and collaborate with BIOS, firmware, and hardware engineering teams to validate fixes.
  • Utilize remote management tools (BMC/IPMI, serial console, KVM-over-IP) for system access and debug.
  • Execute test procedures and assist with basic scripting or automation tasks (Python, PowerShell, or Bash ).
  • Manage rack infrastructure including cabling, airflow considerations, hardware swaps, and lifecycle handling.
  • Maintain accurate inventory tracking, asset management, and support hardware shipping/receiving workflows.
  • Follow ESD and lab safety procedures while working with sensitive hardware components.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent debug and validation activities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in high-density server or data center environments.
  • Familiarity with x86 server architecture and modern server technologies (PCIe Gen4/Gen5, NVMe, RAID).
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (VLANs, subnets, switch validation).
  • Experience supporting engineering teams during hardware or firmware validation cycles.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to document findings clearly.

Work Schedule

  • Primary schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Flexibility for extended hours or weekend support may be required based on program needs.

Physical Role Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
  • Visual acuity for detailed hardware inspection and system monitoring.
  • Comfortable using ladders and working at rack height.
  • Ability to work in a lab/data center environment with elevated noise levels and varying temperatures.
