Job Description
Longden is seeking a hands-on, full-cycle Project Manager to lead the design, estimation, and execution of server room and critical environment projects. This role works closely with internal teams and trusted subcontractors to evaluate, design, price, secure, and deliver projects from initial client engagement through closeout.
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects end-to-end while working in a highly collaborative, small team environment. It is also designed as a succession opportunity, with the goal of transitioning into a leadership role within the division over time.
Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the President
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop project opportunities through existing client relationships, referrals, and partner networks
- Conduct site evaluations and coordinate walkthroughs for server rooms, IDF rooms, and other critical environments
- Lead the front-end design process in collaboration with internal teams and external partners
- Prepare and present project proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including estimating, bidding, securing work, and execution
- Coordinate subcontractors (electrical, mechanical, fire suppression, etc.) and ensure work aligns with project scope and standards
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Manage project documentation including purchase orders, submittals, permits, and close-out materials
- Collaborate with internal teams including design, labor/warehouse, and accounting
- Perform regular site visits to monitor progress and address issues as they arise
- Support billing and invoicing processes related to project milestones
Qualifications:
Required:
- Strong foundation in electrical systems (power distribution, backup power, or similar systems)
- Experience reviewing and interpreting construction plans and specifications
- Proven ability to manage or support construction projects across multiple phases
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients and coordinate across teams
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced, small team environment
:
- Degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience working in mission-critical environments (server rooms, data centers, cleanrooms)
- Familiarity with subcontractor management and design-build project delivery
- Willingness to obtain Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (company supported)
Work Environment & Travel:
- Primarily in-office with flexibility for field work based on project needs
- Regular travel to project sites across New England (typically within a 1–1.5 hour radius)
- Occasional extended travel depending on project scope
- Occasional weekend work for project transitions or equipment installations
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary range: $120,000–$140,000, depending on experience
- Performance-based bonus tied to both company and project success
- Monthly vehicle allowance and company-paid expenses (gas, incidentals)
