We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Sheet Metal Superintendent at our mechanical subcontracting company based in Phoenix, AZ. As a Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in directing the successful completion of projects within the company. You will work closely with the operations team and sheet metal field staff to oversee the execution and delivery of mechanical construction projects. Responsibilities

  • Serve as company representation in project meetings and coordination with General Contractors/customers.
  • Oversee and manage sheet metal installation on large mechanical projects.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Assemble procurement orders for materials, equipment and tools required at each project commencement.
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  • Evaluate Foreman and workers abilities and expertise to ensure the most productive job placement.
  • Manage existing workforce and coordinate hiring of new employees, as needed to meet project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow and efficient project completion.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems and maintain time records.
  • The Sheet Metal Superintendent will supervise and coordinate the material for and activities of Foremen, Journeymen and Apprentices engaged in the installation of sheet metal systems.
  • When necessary, make cost estimates for contracts.
  • Participate in man-power loading analysis and forecasting.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Conduct timely performance appraisals for all assigned workers.
  • Provide on-site leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Follow HR procedures for hiring, terminations and disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Assist in management of material orders, deliveries, and inventory to prevent delays.

  • Enforce adherence to safety protocols, identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  • Supervise preparation of daily reports on job progress and document changes as needed.
  • Train and mentor crew members, ensuring adherence to company standards and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in sheet metal work, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with building automation, HVAC startup and commissioning procedures.
  • Proven expertise in managing large mechanical projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork fabrication, and installation.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in safety standards and regulations (OSHA compliance ).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in sheet metal work or HVAC .
